Iowa is a leader in quality education, and Buena Vista County is no exception.
In 1997, Storm Lake High School was named a First In the Nation in Education
(FINE) school. The music department in the district was given the exemplary
music program in the state for 2003. Local public and private schools
have access to college level courses through Iowa Central Community College
and Buena Vista University. Throughout the county, schools utilize the
latest technology, enjoy small class sizes, and participate in a variety
of extracurricular activities. After-school, Head Start, and other valuable
programs help children move forward, and facilities like Gingerbread House
offer quality daycare for young children.
